The Rector of Akawe Torkula Polytechnic, Makurdi, Dr. Martins Agena has called on Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), to extend it's intervention packages to the institution to help it actualize it's vision of becoming the hub for technical and vocational education in the country. Dr. Agena said this in Abuja on Tuesday during a courtesy visit to the Executive Secretary of TETFund, Arch. Sunny Ochono. The Rector was accompanied by the Ag. Governor Alia made the donation Saturday, July 06, 2024 when he paid unofficial visit to the school while heading to Vandeikya for an official function. He appreciated the school management and the students for the warm welcome accorded him and his entourage, describing all the students as his beautiful daughters who are future leaders. The Governor, who also appreciated the neatness and physical outlook of the students, thanked the school management for taken proper care of them, adding that with that excellent feeding, the students will give a hundred percent concentration to their studies. As uncertainty looms over the conduct of council elections in Benue State.  The National Assembly on Tuesday, granted full financial and administrative autonomy to all the 774 local council authorities across Nigeria by amending section 124 of the nation’s constitution. The section provides a consequential provision for the making of the local councils, a full third tier government without undue interference from the state governments. The ammendment was one of the 22 others approved by the House of Representatives last week and ratified by the Senate on Tuesday. Both chambers had through a conference committee harmonised versions of the ammendments into the constitution carried out by each of them last month. By the development, the National Assembly had ratified all the 23 clauses and sections that had been ammended by both chambers. The Director General, Bureau of Entrepreneurship & Wealth Creation, Ms Benita Shuluwa in company of the Governor, Members of the State Executive Council and Top Government Officials today signed a partnership agreement with Sector Lead Limited (Private Sector Partner) in the Waste -to - Wealth Project. In a statement release by Solo Dzua in Makurdi, the Benue's State capital, the ceremony was performed by the Deputy Governor, His Excellency Barr Dr Sam Ode, MNI on behalf of the Executive Governor, His Excellency, Rev Fr Hyacinth Iormem Alia, PhD.
