The Director General of BEQA, Dr. Terna Francis who made this known when he led a delegation to the board yesterday in Makurdi, said the move underscored BEQA’s commitment to restoring excellence in the state education sector.

The Director General decried the rot in the sector assuring that the Governor Hyacinth Alia-led administration was committed to transforming the sector and making it the envy of other states.

He said the BEQA had already taken steps to ensure sanity in the sector emphasizing that “our office is tasked with the responsibility of closing schools that fail to meet establishment guidelines, education laws, as well as the national policy on education.”

Dr. Francis pointed out that at the end of this term, BEQA would publish a list of all substandard schools operating in the state that would be affected by the exercise.

He advised parents to withdraw their children and wards from such schools for quality-assured ones, stressing, “We will not only seal schools but also demolish structures that threaten learners’ safety.”

He advised anyone seeking to establish a school in the state to first visit the Urban Development Board to obtain all the necessary permits before undertaking the venture.

He said, “it is no more business as usual because the Bureau will effectively monitor to the letter each step in the process of school establishment in any part of the state.”

Welcoming the BEQA delegation earlier, the General Manager, Ternongo Mede lauded the efforts Dr. Francis was making towards strengthening the quality of education in the state and pledged the Board’s full cooperation in implementing the new policies and programs.

Hakim Ziyech Scores on First Premier league Start as 3 Stars Chelsea Over Minnows

Hakim Ziyech scores on his first Premier League start with Kurt Zouma and Timo Werner also on target as Frank Lampard's men pile the misery on winless hosts. The strength of Chelsea’s squad was underlined when £53million forward Timo Werner was summoned from the bench minutes before kick off to cover for Christian Pulisic’s injury in the warm-up. Frank Lampard’s plan had been to give Werner a rest after the five-thousand round trip to Krasnodar in midweek. But the German gratefully seized the unexpected opportunity to play another 90 minutes and score the third goal in one of the easiest wins seen at Turf Moor. Werner was decent but not even one of the stand-out performers given Chelsea’s dominance as they climbed to fifth.
